In high school I fell in love with the Spanish Language and later received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Spanish from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. I studied in Valencia, Spain my junior year in college. Other places where I have enjoyed using my Spanish skills have been Chile, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Puerto Rico.
In 2006 I completed the Graduate Teacher Certification Program at Grand Valley State University. Presently, I am working on my thesis project for my masters degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. I currently hold an endorsement to teach English to Speakers of Other Languages in grades K-8. I am also certified to teach elementary K-5 and Spanish 6-8.
This is my fifth year teaching English as a Second Language at Godfrey-Lee Middle School. I was a long term substitute for Godfrey Lee Middle and High School and a paraprofessional in the elementary school, prior to accepting my teaching position as the MS EL Teacher. In my position at Godfrey-Lee Public Schools, I feel very connected to the students and their families. I enjoy my students and try my best every day to help them achieve their goals. It is a honor and pleasure to work together with parents helping their children reach their goals. I always encourage my students to keep working hard and never give up.
My husband, Craig and I have three grown daughters, Cara, Caitlin, and Colleen. Our home is in Saugatuck where we live with our Australian shepherd/border collie, Mia. As a family, we enjoy spending time together every chance we get.
In my leisure time I love to read, volunteer, travel and spend time with my wonderful family.
